and Responsibilities Title
THESIS/INTRO: This
is where you should put your thesis statement and introductory paragraph. This
introduces the reader to your topic, and gives a brief summary of what you plan
to present. Make sure you have clear argument- what you plan to prove-
with your thesis statement.
ORIGIN: This is your
paragraph on the origin of your topic. Write about the time and place in which
the right or responsibility first began. How did the story start? What
important connections did you make about how your topic began? For example,
what important events or “watershed moments” impacted your topic? Was it born
out of another movement (like women’s suffrage and abolition)? Make sure you
reference your sources, either as a footnote or within the paper. According to
Ms. Thompson, this is the correct way to write an academic paper (conhigh2016.blogspot.com).
DEVELOPMENT: This is
your development. What were the first years like as people began to demand
their right, or take on certain responsibilities? Was there a movement that
grew around demanding their rights? Was there opposition to your topic?
How did both sides of the issue interact? Make sure you reference your sources.
TURNING POINT: This
is describing the right and/or responsibilities. This is the point in which
most of the public is aware there is a problem, and people are actively working
to change the problem. You may write several paragraphs about this, as it is
the bulk of your research. Make sure you use and cite your sources.
SHORT TERM IMPACT:
Write about how your right or responsibility immediately changed the world- for
better or worse. What changed socially,
economically, or politically because of your right/responsibility? This is what
happened because of your topic right after the turning point- first ten years or
so. Cite your sources.
LONG TERM IMPACT-
Determine how we are still feeling the effects of your topic. Make sure you
reference social, economic and political impact, as needed. USE AND CITE YOUR
SOURCES
CONCLUSION. Give a
brief summary of what you proved with your research.
